Safety requirements
All projects must comply with safety rules. Below are common requirements; consult your teacher and the full checklist in Resources.
General rules
- No dangerous chemicals, explosives, firearms, or live vertebrate experiments without approvals.
- Electrical projects should use low-voltage systems unless approved and safely enclosed.
- All heat sources must be supervised and have fire-resistant barriers where appropriate.
Required supervision & approvals
Teachers/supervisors must sign off on projects that involve biological samples, human participants, hazardous materials, or fieldwork. See the Resources page for the Safety & Ethics checklist.
On the day
- Bring risk assessments and any supervisor approvals with your display.
- Ensure cables are taped down and displays are stable.
- Follow venue rules and instructions from the organising team.
